Wish List Wednesday

I have a few items I’ve had my eye on for a while now and I wanted to share them with you!

  • Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Khaki: I have one of these already and I can tell you that they are fantastic. They don’t crease all day but blend like a dream, and are so pigmented!
  • NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna: This is the perfect dusty rose color that can be worn with so many looks. I like this formulation too, it’s long-lasting but not drying.
  • Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder Foundation: I really want to cut back on liquid foundations and I have heard great things about this, it still provides coverage without the weight of liquid formulas.
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: A cheaper alternative to the classic NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, this drugstore dupe is creamy and covers under eye circles. I wouldn’t use it for blemishes but in a pinch, it would work.

These are a few things I’ve had my eye on, I’ll be sure to let you know if I end up getting any!

L’Oreal vs MAC

L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows in Bronzed Taupe and Golden Sage

L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows in Bronzed Taupe and Golden Sage

Continuing the theme of throwdowns this week, I’d like to compare L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows to their MAC equivilents. As far as price goes, the L’Oreal shadows take the cake. They are $7.99 at Ulta and are often times BOGO 50% off. MAC shadows are $15.00 for about half the product (they’re even cheaper if you buy the pro pallette refills). For texture, I personally think the MAC shadows win. Yes, the L’Oreal ones are super soft because they are essentially pressed pigments and blend so easily but sometimes, I prefer to do a bit of work or it is easy to over-blend and then my eyes look muddy. Plus, softer shadows equal more fall out (those little specks of shadow that fall under your eyes and are really hard to clean up). The L’Oreal shadows have more shimmer than MAC shadows so if you like shimmer, these are for you. Both shadows are equally pigmented so there’s a tie there. I think that

MAC Satin Taupe, L'Oreal Bronzed Taupe, MAC Humid, L'Oreal Golden Sage

MAC Satin Taupe, L’Oreal Bronzed Taupe, MAC Humid, L’Oreal Golden Sage

in general, the L’Oreal shadows are great dupes for some very popular MAC shades and are totally interchangeable. Here are two swatches of the L’Oreal shadows next to their MAC equivalents. As you can see, the L’Oreal ones have a lot more shimmer but both are equally pigmented.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these shadows. I prefer the MAC ones just because they are easier to organize, store, and travel with if you use the pro pans like I do. If the L’Oreal ones came out with similar packaging, I would for sure purchase more!
